Zbigniew Brzezinski
Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzezinski (lahir 28 Maret 1928, Warsawa, Polandia) adalah ahli ilmu politik, geostrategi, sekaligus negarawan. Ia dikenal sebagai penasihat Presiden Amerika Serikat Lyndon B. Johnson dari tahun 1966-1968 dan juga penasihat Presiden Jimmy Carter dari tahun 1977 sampai tahun 1981. Pria yang memiliki latar belakang Polandia-Amerika ini merupakan salah satu Penasihat Keamanan Nasional AS yang paling berprestasi dan "kuat".[1] Pada saat Ia menjabat sebagai Penasihat Keamanan Nasional, Ia turut berperan dalam pelaksanaan sejumlah kebijakan luar negeri yang amat penting dan bermanfaat bagi AS seperti normalisasi hubungan dengan Republik Rakyat Tiongkok, Perjanjian Camp David, dan SALT II. Pemilihan dirinya sebagai penasihat Carter dianggap sebagai respon Partai Demokrat untuk meneruskan kebijakan-kebijakan realis penasihat keamanan nasional sebelumnya, Henry Kissinger.[2] Dalam bahasa Polandia namanya ditulis dengan nama Brzeziński dan dengan nama zbigɲev bʐɛ'ʑiɲski.
Pendidikan
Brzezinski berkarier sebagai dosen di Universitas Harvard pada tahun 1953 sampai 1960, dan Universitas Columbia pada tahun 1960 sampai 1989 di mana Ia mengepalai Institut Masalah-Masalah Komunis. Saat ini, Ia adalah profesor bidang kebijakan luar negeri di Sekolah Lanjutan Ilmu Internasional (SAIS) Paul H. Nitze di Universitas Johns Hopkins, Washington, D.C.
